Gear Donation From the District of Hudsons Hope Fire Department
On Thursday December 24th, Fire Chief Allan Stebbing from the District of Hudsons Hope Fire Department donated a consignment of fire fighter personal protective equipment to Firefighters Without Borders Canada. This event was held at VF&RS Fire Hall #18 with Directors Randy Dubbert and Brian Hutchinson in attendance. Thanks to the crew at #18 for their support and assistance with this event.

El Salvador (Jan.22nd-31st, 2010)
On January 21st, Firefighters Without Borders Canada has deployed a 26 person team to El Salvador as part of our annual deployments working with the Cuerpo de Bomberos de El Salvador. This team is comprised of 14 fire fighters, 2 subject matter experts (Tech Rescue & ICS), a group of 4 recent graduates of the Justice Institute of BC, Fire & Safety Academy who are on a scholarship program in place between FWB Canada and the JIBC, and 4 individuals compiling a documentary on FWB Canada operations.

Cheque Presentation presented by Yolo Racing

YOLO RACING and car will be on display at the the Outdoor Adventure Travel Show/Off Road Adventures Pavilion, at the Vancouver Convention Center, The show boasts 20,000 visitors over the two day period. Firefighters without Borders will be at the event from 10-5pm on both days to promote
Yolo Racing and provide information about the FWB Canada organization. There will be an opportunity for the public to have their photos taken in the Race car on a donation basis, this money will be divided between FWB Canada and Local 18s Fire Fighters' charitable society.
On the Saturday 24th Yolo Racing will be presenting Fire Fighters Without Borders Canada with a cheque presentation from their 2009 drive-a-thon. There will be a photo opportunity with FWB Canada, and the race team.

FWB Canada mourns the death of Julian Aguilar
Firefighters Without Borders Canada acknowledges and mourns the death of Julian Aguilar of the Cuerpo de Bomberos De El Salvador. This line of duty death took place at an agricultural warehouse, two members of the CBES were making entry when a building collapse occured. The other Bombero suffered severe burns but is expected to recover. Our best wishes go to the families of both men.

FWB Canada will depart for Phuket Thailand
On March 16th, 14 members of Firefighters Without Borders Canada will depart for Phuket Thailand. The group includes 5 fire fighters, 3 from Richmond Fire/Rescue (Fred Klomp, Al McGrath, Jason Pinkney) and 2 from Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services (Flynn lamont, Don Robinson). The Team will deliver and provide training o...n a consignment of brand new AED's purchased in memory of Noah yelizarov who lost his life while travelling in Thailand in October 2004. A large group of family and friends form part of this team to see the completion of "Noahs Journey 2010"

Squamish Fire Department Donation
April 15 2010 Squamish Fire Department made a donation of decommissioned equipment to Firefighters Without Borders Canada today. FWB Canada wishes to thank the Mayor, Council, Fire Chief Easterbrook, Deputy Chief Adams and the crew at Fire Hall #2 for their support and hospitality. Thank you to all FWB Canada members Brian Hutchinson, Derek Dickson, Kim Saulnier & David Hinton who were in attendance at the handover ceremony. It was great to see.

FWB Canada receives commendation from Prime Minister Stephen Harper
On Monday May 10, 2010 The Terminal City Club and the Prime Minister was honoring the efforts of Firefighters Without Borders Canada (FWBC). "With selfless determination, these fire professionals are working to save lives and improve public safety in developing countries".

Firefighters Without Borders 2010 AGM
Please be advised that the Firefighters Without Borders Canada 2010 Annual General Meeting is scheduled for July 6th at 1830hrs. Location: Firefighters Club (6515 Bonsor Avenue, Burnaby, BC). Membership dues of $25 are due at the AGM, those members who have deployed in 2010 have already paid, all others must pay at the AGM to be eligible to vote and run for office.
Call for Nominations: FWB Canada is calling for individuals to run for the 8 Director positions that are up for election. See the attached documents for Director responsibilities and roles. Nominees are to submit a 125 word candidate statement along with their intention to run by July 1st, 2010 2400hrs. Please forward this to Brian Hutchinson (
